Manage PID Interactively

To be able to interactively manage PIDs (creating and modifying them), you need your authorization key (your personal or your organization's one).

 

Generate a PID

To interactively create a new PID associated to a given URL follow these steps:

  1. Open the PID operation form

  2. Push the “Authenticate” button

  3. Tick the “Get ID from Global” field

  4. Write “300” in the first field

  5. Write {prefix}/{username} in the second field

  6. Select the “Private Key” tab

  7. Select your private key file and then push “Authenticate”

Now you can create the handle.

  1. Enter the PID you want to create (should have the same prefix for which you authorized yourself) and push the Create button.

  2. Push the ">" button in the record of type "HS_ADMIN" (this step will not be needed when a bug will be solved in this interface)

  3. Change the field containing 0.NA/{prefix} to {prefix}/{username]} and the field in front to it to 300

  4. Push "Save Handle"

  5. In the dropdown menu "Create new value" Select "URL" and enter the URL the PID should resolve (Push ">" to open the record)

  6. Push "Save Handle"

Modify a PID

The following steps make possible to edit the URL and metadata associated to an existing PID:

  1. Open the PID operation form

  2. Push the “Authenticate” button

  3. Tick the “Get ID from Global” field

  4. Write “300” in the first field

  5. Write {prefix}/{username} in the second field

  6. Select the “Private Key” tab

  7. Select your private key file and then push “Authenticate”

Now you can edit an existing handle.

  1. Enter the PID you want to edit (should have the same prefix for which you authorized yourself) and push the Create button.

  2. Push the ">" button in the record of type "HS_ADMIN" (this step will not be needed when a bug will be solved in this interface)

  3. Change the field containing 0.NA/{prefix} to {prefix}/{username]} and the field in front to it to 300

  4. Push "Save Handle"

  5. (Push ">" to open the URL record and change the URL the PID should resolve to

  6. Push "Save Handle"
